Ein alternativer Kunstraum gegenüber der Universität der Künste in Posen
Eine Präsentation von Mikołaj Poliński, Künstler und Leiter von Naprzeciw
Welche Rolle hat heutzutage ein alternativer Projektraum in Bezug auf die Künstlerszene und andere Kunstinstitutionen in Polen?
Der unabhängige Projektraum Naprzeciw wurde im Frühling 2003 eröffnet als Plattform für junge Künstler, Studenten und Lehrer der Universität der Künste in Posen sowie für den Austausch mit anderen Kunstorten und dem allgemein interessierten Publikum.
Die Ausstellungen in Naprzeciw sind stark von dem Kontext des Ortes geprägt, an dem zwei parallel verlaufende Räume mit jeweils eigenen Eingängen die architektonische Besonderheit ausmachen. Die Räumlichkeiten von Naprzeciw, die unter der Woche als Atelier genutzt werden – also als Ort der schöpferischen Suche, der Diskussion und des Ausprobierens neuer Lösungen -, verwandeln sich während der Präsentation in einen autonomen Ausstellungsbereich.
Die Ausstellungen finden immer sonntags und seit 2009 auch montags von 12:00 bis 16:00 Uhr statt. Die kurze Ausstellungsdauer, die mit der Funktion des Ortes als Atelier verbunden ist, führt dazu, dass die Ausstellungen einen einmaligen und nicht wiederkehrenden Charakter haben und es die Möglichkeit gibt, sich direkt mit dem Künstler zu unterhalten und Erfahrungen auszutauschen.
Naprzeciw hat kein festgelegtes Programm. Der Raum zeigt nicht Künstler einer einzigen Generation und ist nicht an ein bestimmtes Medium oder einer speziellen Ästhetik gebunden. Im Kern geht es um eine individuelle und kritische Haltung der eingeladenen Künstler, ihre oder seine Offenheit für das, was in der Kunst aktuell und wichtig ist.
Die Galerie ist nicht nur ein Ort des Austauschs von Erfahrungen, künstlerischen Ausdrucksweisen oder unterschiedlichen Weltanschauungen. Sie ist auch ein Forum, in dem gegensätzliche Kulturkontexte zusammenkommen. Neben polnischen Künstlern besuchten auch häufig ausländische Künstler die Galerie: aus Japan, Kanada, Deutschland, Rumänien, Großbritannien, Syrien und Sambia.
Die Präsentation wird gleichzeitig eine Einführung zur Ausstellung von Naprzeciw sein, die im April/Mai 2015 in der Studiogalerie des HaL stattfinden wird.
Der Künstler Mikołaj Poliński (*1977, lebt und arbeitet in Posen und Berlin) leitet seit 2003 die Galerie Naprzeciw und seit 2011 das Zeichenatelier an der Universität der Künste in Posen.

An alternative art space opposite the University of Arts in Poznań
A presentation by Mikolaj Polinski, artist and director Naprzeciw Gallery.
What is today the role of an alternative project space in relation to the art scene and art institutions in Poland?
Naprzeciw Gallery started its operation in the spring of 2003 as an alternative art venue, coming forward to the young artists, students and teachers of the University of Arts in Poznań, to other galleries, and to all the interested parties.
The idea of Naprzeciw and the works displayed within it are in a unique relation to the place, which is special thanks to the architecture of the two parallel rooms, with two separate entrances leading directly from the university yard. On a day-to-day basis the venue of Naprzeciw is an art studio, i.e. a space of creative pursuits, debates and testing new solutions. For the duration of the show this place transforms into an autonomous exhibition venue.
Exhibitions invariably take place on Sundays, as of 2009 also on Mondays, between noon and 4 pm. The short duration of the shows is determined by the function of the place as an art studio and this makes the exhibitions unrepeatable as they offer a chance for direct meetings with the authors, for conversation and exchange of experience.
Naprzeciw has no strictly-definite program. It does not introduce artists of only one generation; it is not tied with a particular artistic medium or a specific aesthetics. The idea lies in a individual and critical approach of the invited artist, his or her openness to what is topical and important in the arts today.
The gallery is not only a venue for exchanging opinions, artistic languages and different world views. It moreover constitutes a space of contacts between various cultural contexts. Naprzeciw has repeatedly hosted foreign artists from such countries as Japan, Canada, Germany, Romania, the UK, Syria, and Zambia.
The presentation is also an introduction to the exhibition, which will be shown in the Studiogalerie of the Haus am Lützowplatz in April/May 2015.
The artist Mikołaj Poliński (* 1977, lives in Poznań and Berlin) leads Naprzeciw since 2003 and since 2011 the drawing class at the University of Arts in Poznań.

Jaką rolę ma dzisiaj galeria alternatywna w odniesieniu do sceny artystycznej i instytucji artystycznych w Polsce?
Galeria Naprzeciw rozpoczęła swoją działalność wiosną 2003 r. jako alternatywna przestrzeń prezentacji sztuki – wychodząc naprzeciw młodym artystom, studentom i pedagogom uczelni artystycznej, naprzeciw innym galeriom, naprzeciw wszystkim zainteresowanym.
Idea Naprzeciw oraz prezentowane w niej prace pozostają w szczególnym związku z miejscem, którego specyfikę wyznacza sytuacja architektoniczna dwóch równoległych sal, z dwoma osobnymi wejściami prowadzącymi bezpośrednio z podwórza. Przestrzeń Naprzeciw – na co dzień pracownia artystyczna, a więc obszar poszukiwań twórczych, dyskusji, sprawdzania nowych rozwiązań – na czas prezentacji zamienia się w autonomiczną przestrzeń wystawienniczą.
Wystawy odbywają się zawsze w niedzielę, od roku 2009 także i w poniedziałek, w godzinach od 12:00 do 16:00. Krótki czas prezentacji uwarunkowany kontekstem miejsca sprawia, że wystawy mają charakter niepowtarzalnego wydarzenia – stwarzają możliwość bezpośredniego spotkania z twórcą, rozmowy, wymiany doświadczeń.
Naprzeciw nie ma określonego programu, nie pokazuje artystów jednego pokolenia, nie jest związana z określonym medium artystycznym czy specyficzną estetyką. Istotę stanowi odpowiedzialna, indywidualna i krytyczna postawa zapraszanego artysty, jego otwartość na to, co w sztuce aktualne i ważne. Galeria to nie tylko miejsce wymiany idei, języków artystycznych oraz różnych wizji świata. To także forum przenikania się odmiennych kontekstów kulturowych – obok artystów polskich gościli w Naprzeciw wielokrotnie artyści zagraniczni: z Japonii, Kanady, Niemiec, Rumunii, Wielkiej Brytanii, Syrii czy Zambii.
Prezentacja będzie jednocześnie wprowadzeniem do wystawy Naprzeciw, która odbędzie się w Studiogalerie w kwietniu 2015 roku.
Mikołaj Poliński (*1977, mieszka w Poznaniu i Berlinie) artysta, od 2003 roku prowadzi Galerie Naprzeciw, od 2011 roku kieruje pracownią rysunku w Uniwersytecie Artystycznym w Poznaniu.
