Persefoni Myrtsou ist Bildende Künstlerin und Kulturanthropologin, die derzeit zwischen Thessaloniki und Istanbul lebt. Sie arbeitet mit Film, Performance und Ethnografie und verfolgt Migration und Vertreibung als gelebte Realitäten, die durch koloniale Technologien und den Nationalstaatsaufbau in den post-osmanischen Geographien und darüber hinaus geprägt sind. Indem sie dominante Narrative herausfordert, strebt sie danach, grenzüberschreitende Solidaritäten aufzubauen, durch die verflochtene Geschichten, relationale Affekte und vielfältige Seins- und Zugehörigkeitsweisen entstehen können. Sie studierte Bildende Kunst an der Glasgow School of Art und hat einen MA in Kunst im Kontext von der Universität der Künste Berlin. Derzeit schließt sie eine Promotion in Europäischer Ethnologie an der Humboldt-Universität Berlin ab. Ihre Dissertation untersucht das Leben von Migrationskünstler*innen in Istanbul, Athen und Berlin und fragt, wie sie Arbeit, Identität und Zugehörigkeit innerhalb ungleicher Kunstwelten und sich wandelnder Migrationsbedingungen aushandeln. Ihre Arbeiten wurden international präsentiert, unter anderem im Benaki Museum, auf der Athen Biennale, im Museum der Dinge Berlin, im Goethe-Institut Athen, beim Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival und auf der 8. Thessaloniki Biennale. Sie hat künstlerische Forschung und Autoethnografie an der Humboldt-Universität gelehrt und unterrichtet derzeit am Rum Zoğrafyon Lyzeum in Istanbul. Sie ist außerdem Mutter, Partnerin und Tochter und versucht, ein transnationales Leben zwischen künstlerischer Arbeit, Wissenschaft und Fürsorge zusammenzuhalten.

Persefoni Myrtsou is a visual artist and cultural anthropologist currently living between Thessaloniki and Istanbul. She works with film, performance, and ethnography, tracing migration and displacement as lived realities shaped by colonial technologies and nation-state building in the post-Ottoman geographies and beyond. By challenging dominant narratives, she seeks to build transborder solidarities through which entangled histories, relational affects, and multiple ways of being and belonging can emerge. She studied Fine Art at the Glasgow School of Art and holds an MA in Art in Context from the Universität der Künste Berlin. She is currently completing a PhD in European Ethnology at Humboldt University Berlin. Her thesis examines the lives of migrant artists across Istanbul, Athens, and Berlin, asking how they negotiate work, identity and belonging within uneven art worlds and shifting migratory conditions. Her work has been presented internationally, including at the Benaki Museum, the Athens Biennale, the Museum der Dinge Berlin, the Goethe-Institut Athens, the Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival, and the 8th Thessaloniki Biennale. She has taught artistic research and autoethnography at Humboldt University and currently teaches at the Rum Zoğrafyon Lyceum in Istanbul. She is also a mother, partner, and daughter, trying to hold together a transnational life across artistic work, academia, and care.
