In einer neuen kollaborativen Arbeit im Prozess verbinden İrem Aydın und Elvan Tekin ihre künstlerischen Ansätze, um die verkörperten Dimensionen komplexer emotionaler Zustände wie Sehnsucht, Melancholie, Liebeskummer und das Gefühl des Auseinanderfallens zu erkunden. Im Zusammenspiel von Bewegung und Text zeichnet die Performance die nachwirkende Präsenz abwesender Menschen, Orte und imaginierter Zukünfte nach.
Ausgehend von persönlichen Erinnerungen, fragmentarischen Erzählungen und affektiven Landschaften untersucht die Arbeit im Prozess, wie Emotionen im Körper wohnen, Gesten formen und über Zeit und Distanz hinweg Spuren hinterlassen. Zwischen Intimität und Verortungslosigkeit entfaltet sich die Performance als poetische Befragung von Verlust, Bindung und dem fortbestehenden Wunsch nach Verbindung.

Ihre Praxis konzentriert sich auf die Schnittstellen von Queerness, Migration und spekulativem Erzählen und verwandelt autobiografische Erfahrungen in poetische, science-fiction- und fantastische Bühnensprachen. Sie studierte Spanische Sprache und Literatur an der Universität Istanbul und absolvierte später einen MA in Theaterschaffen an der Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Ihr prädoktorales künstlerisches Forschungsprojekt Galaxy Lubunya, entwickelt an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, erkundete spekulative Zukünfte aus einer queeren Migrationsperspektive und mündete in die Performance Above the Clouds / Underground, die 2024 mit Unterstützung des Goethe-Instituts Istanbul präsentiert wurde.
Seit 2019 werden ihre Projekte in Deutschland vom Berliner Senat, Soziokultur und dem Fonds Darstellende Künste gefördert. Zu ihren Regiearbeiten zählen Kent Melodien, das am Staatstheater Karlsruhe uraufgeführt wurde, Planet Lubunya am Ballhaus Ost sowie My Language Is Anger am Ballhaus Prinzenallee. Ihre Arbeiten wurden auf internationalen Plattformen präsentiert und eingeladen, darunter das Berliner Theatertreffen International Forum, das Kampnagel Sommerfestival Artists Lab und das Det Frie Felts Festival. Außerdem übersetzte sie The Archimedes Principle aus dem Spanischen ins Türkische; das Stück wurde Ende 2025 in der Türkei uraufgeführt. Kürzlich wurde ihre Kurzgeschichte in eine Anthologie des Verlags Umami Books Istanbul aufgenommen.
Elvan Tekin ist eine in Berlin lebende Künstlerin, die in den Bereichen Choreografie, Tanz, Performance und Kuration tätig ist. Ihre Choreografie zeugt vom beständigen Geist des Widerstands und dem Streben nach Befreiung. Wie kann das transformative Potenzial der Bewegung ein Katalysator für (sozialen) Wandel sein? Ihr kommendes Werk THIS IS NOT THE END wird im November 2026 an den Sophiensaelen in Berlin uraufgeführt. Sie hat einen Master-Abschluss in Choreografie von der HZT Berlin. Elvan organisiert und kuratiert das sich entwickelnde kuratorische Projekt emergent spaces, das queere und trans* feministische Perspektiven in der Diaspora in den Mittelpunkt stellt.

In a new collaborative work-in-progress, İrem Aydın and Elvan Tekin join forces to explore the embodied dimensions of complex emotional states such as longing, melancholy, heartbreak, and the experience of falling apart. Through an interplay of movement and text, the performance traces the lingering presence of absent people, places, and imagined futures.
Drawing on personal memories, fragmented narratives, and affective landscapes, the work-in-progress investigates how emotions inhabit the body, shape gestures, and leave traces across time and distance. Moving between intimacy and displacement, the performance unfolds as a poetic inquiry into loss, attachment, and the persistent desire for connection.
İrem Aydın is a theatre director and writer working between Istanbul and Berlin. Her practice focuses on the intersections of queerness, migration, and speculative storytelling, transforming autobiographical experiences into poetic, science-fictional, and fantastical stage languages. She studied Spanish Language and Literature at Istanbul University and later completed an MA in Theatre Creation at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Her pre-doctoral artistic research project, Galaxy Lubunya, developed at Zurich University of the Arts, explored speculative futures from a queer migrant perspective and evolved into the performance Above the Clouds / Underground, presented in 2024 with the support of Goethe-Institut Istanbul.
Since 2019, her projects in Germany have been supported by the Berlin Senate, Soziokultur, and Fonds Darstellende Künste. Her directing credits include Kent Melodien, which premiered at Karlsruhe State Theatre, Planet Lubunya at Ballhaus Ost, and My Language Is Anger at Ballhaus Prinzenallee. Her work has been presented and invited to international platforms including the Berlin Theatertreffen International Forum, Kampnagel Sommerfestival Artists Lab, and Det Frie Felts Festival. She also translated The Archimedes Principle from Spanish into Turkish; the play premiered in Turkey at the end of 2025 and recently her short story was included in an anthology published by Umami Books Istanbul.
Elvan Tekin is an artist working across choreography, dance, performance and curation based in Berlin. Her choreography is a testament to the enduring spirit of resistance and the quest for liberation. How can the transformative potential of movement be a catalyst for (social) change? Her upcoming work THIS IS NOT THE END, is premiering in November 2026 at Sophiensaele, Berlin. She holds a master’s degree in Choreography from HZT, Berlin. Elvan is organising and curating the developing curatorial project emergent spaces, which centres queer and trans* feminist perspectives in the diaspora.
