Berlin will bauen. Doch wie möglichst viel bezahlbarer Wohnraum in kürzester Zeit geschaffen werden kann, ist umstritten. Jim Avignon sorgt sich daher um die Wohnungspolitik Berlins und kommentiert diese mithilfe seines für die Reihe der HaL-Hofskulpturen geschaffenen Hochhaus- Charakters. Ebenso wie Jonathan Borowskys „Hammering Man“ unermüdlich den Hammer schwingt, stemmt Jim Avignons Skulptur „Workout-City“ unermüdlich Gewichte. Ob der Antrieb für dieses Nonstop-Workout die Dollarzeichen sind oder die gesellschaftliche Sehnsucht nach Selbstoptimierung, bleibt offen. Wohnraum schaffen und Wohnraum finden scheint gleichermaßen unermüdlichen Einsatz zu fordern. Dies spürt auch der Verein Haus am Lützowplatz, der seit geraumer Zeit ein Bauvorhaben auf dem rückseitigen Grundstück plant.

Jim Avignon is therefore concerned about Berlin’s housing policy and comments on it using his high-rise character created for the HaL courtyard sculptures series. Just as Jonathan Borofsky’s “Hammering Man” tirelessly swings his hammer, Jim Avignon’s sculpture “Workout-City” relentlessly lifts weights. Whether the motivation for this non-stop workout is driven by dollar signs or the societal longing for self-optimization remains unclear. Creating and finding living space seems to demand equally relentless effort. This is also felt by the Haus am Lützowplatz association, which has been planning a construction project on the property behind their building for some time.
